It snowed today.

I’m probably lucky that it didn’t snow until today, considering the reputation of Rexburg, ID. It makes me nervous, because I thought today was freezing, but the temperature is still going to drop probably another 30 degrees before the end of the semester. Trimester. Whatever they call these things here.

Also, my earbuds broke, so I’ve been using my big, colorful headphones when I’m listening to music. And I have to say, I look like a baller. Shot caller.

Old-school references aside, I do have a fresh new song for today! It’s not the fastest paced song I’ve ever written about, but there’s something great about it. Today’s song:

Gonna Make You Mine, by Olin & the Moon

Olin and the Moon

Remember what I said about ampersand’s? Oh yeah, I found another one, couldn’t be happier. It’s funny, too, because until about three years ago, they had an “and” instead of “&” so I definitely think they made the right choice with the change.

Anyhow, I was referred to these guys by a friend, and I’m so grateful! I’m really diggin’ their groove! Also, I don’t know what it is about today that’s making write all these throwback phrases. I kind of like it though.

One thing about them I really like is their folksy sound. Ever since one of my teacher’s briefly mentioned Iron & Wine as being one of his favorite modern artists, I keep trying to find bands that I think he would like. I’m not ever going to introduce him to these bands or make him a mixed tape or anything, I guess I just think of it as a challenge. Well challenge accepted! Here is Olin & the Moon, suck it teacher!

Sorry, that got out of control.

But do me a favor, and do them a favor, and listen to their music! They’re really great! I hope they keep up the great work, they have at least one new fan!

Who watches Walking Dead? Oh man, AMAZING show! Can’t wait until Sunday! Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeah!

Season Three Promo: Walking Dead Promo
WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAH! That promo seriously gave me chills.
Ok, anyways. Today’s obsessions: Torches, by Foster the People (it’s truly a wonderful album), Megalithic Symphony, by AWOLNATION (surprisingly good album, but they do slip in some f-bombs, and always right at the end of the song), and the Avett Brothers.

In honor of the obsession, here is today’s great song:

Kick Drum Heart, by the Avett Brothers

Have I mentioned how much I love, love, love the piano? I have? Well, here we go again: I love, love, love the piano! Speaking of which, hey, have you seen the banner at the top of my page? Take a look-see. See what I did there?

And I most especially love piano when it’s peppy and great like it is in this song. And would it be weird to say that it sounds really real? If it is, pretend I’m not writing this: it sounds really real, like it hasn’t been processed or edited very much.

As for his voice, it has this untrained, raw quality that makes me love him even though I have no idea who he is. Also, I love it when he says fa-fa-fa-fa-freezing.

Speaking of boys I love that I’ve never met: I just watched 500 days of summer for the first time, and I’m officially joining the club of girls sending Joseph Gordon-Levitt valentine’s day cards.

Anywaaaaaaaaays, listen to that song, it’s really super fantastic!

As ya’ll may know by now, I listen to songs obsessively. Right now, I have a whole list of songs I’m listening to obsessively. Oh, you want to know which songs? Let me oblige:

Silvia, by Miike Snow

Undercover Martyn, by Two Door Cinema Club

Cry Like a Ghost, by Passion Pit

Bullfighter Jacket, by Miniature Tigers

The Tron Soundtrack

The Boxer, by Mumford and Sons

We Built This City, by Starship

Midnight City, by M83

And of course, our song of the day:

Sorry that I only linked up one song, but I’ve got homework to do and only so much time before the need to watch the Premier of season 3 of Walking Dead overwhelms me. Speaking of which, who watches Walking Dead?! If you don’t, you should. RICKTATORSHIP!

So some of you may know this song of the day, it was in a phone commercial a few years ago, and you may have heard being shouted from the white Prius’s of 16 year old girls and their friends.

But fear not! It is a song for all ages, even if you drive Silverado’s! Well, maybe not Silverado’s . . .

Justin Hawkins in Ankkarock festival

Justin Hawkin’s sang a great song when he and his buds created this song. Also, can we just appreciate this picture of him for a moment. Ok, that’s great.

So the song: It’s just so addicting! His falsetto is really ridiculous, but oh so fun to sing along to. Go ahead, give it a whirl. You won’t be sorry. But your friends might when you’re singing it off-key later.

These guys seem like they are straight out of the ’80s, but oddly enough, this song didn’t come out until early 2000’s, so that’s a curve ball for you. But then again, they are British, and I’m fairly certain that England is about 10 years behind the curve. So there’s that. . .

But listen to it, love it, and you’re welcome. Ha! Thanks guys, talk to you soon!

Waves of the Heart

Tegan Quin

I feel so laaaaaaazzzzzyyyy. Sorry about that. Back from hiatus! Ha, you’ve heard that before.

Also, I’ve had the craziest weekend ever and let’s just say my emotions are a little unhinged right now.

But you know what I do when my emotions are ranging from 1-10 on a scale of 1-10? I listen to great music! It stabilizes my mood like nothing else can.

At first today I was listening to happy, peppy songs to try and make myself feel happy and peppy, but it wasn’t until I listened to How, by Regina Spektor that I really started to feel better. And no, that song is not indicative of what happened this weekend. The other song that made me feel better was Whole Love, by Wilco. But neither of those are today’s songs. If you’d be so kind as to remember I’ve already posted about Wilco, and even that exact song! C’mon, memories people.

Ha, just kidding . . . I don’t even remember what I’ve posted about. But I know what I’m posting about today!

Borne On The FM Waves Of The Heart, by Against Me! ft Tegan Quin (of Tegan and Sara)

I like the rock n roll quality of this guys voice. Actually, maybe I shouldn’t say “guy” but that’s not a story for this blog! I also love Tegan’s voice. Sometimes I don’t like listening to Tegan & Sara if it’s just them all the way through, but in combination with someone else’s voice, I love it!!

Also, just I really enjoy listening to this song. It’s a great song. Enjoy! And here’s Against Me!’s facebook:
